Mosquito Control
Expert Pest Control for Mosquitoes
Floridians are famous for their outdoor activities, including birthday parties, picnics, BBQs, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, walking, biking, and enjoying the Florida sunshine. Unfortunately, the swarming mosquito population in Florida can quickly ruin fun events. Because Green-Tech Termite and Pest Control has had numerous inquiries regarding mosquitoes, we elected to offer the Mosquito Sentry®. The Mosquito Sentry® emits a vapor repellent into the air that drives mosquitoes out of the yard. Like most of our Green-Tech Termite and Pest Control products, the Mosquito Sentry vapor repellent in the Mosquito Sentry® is safe for humans and pets. So rest assured that we can rid the yard of mosquitoes without worrying about chemicals harming people or pets.
Signs Of a Mosquito Infestation
Determining if there is a subterranean termite infestation in a home is a challenging task for most homeowners. To survive, subterranean termites must stay underground, out of the sunlight and air. That means homeowners won’t see termites walking around the house unless they happen upon a termite swarm during mating season. Because of that, there are very few signs that termites are in a home until they have caused severe damage.

Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water. If there’s an area around the house where water collects—such as puddles or buckets—you may be inviting mosquitoes to breed in the yard.
Mosquitoes make a distinctive buzzing sound when flying. If you start hearing an increased buzzing either outside or inside the home, there may be an infestation nearby.
Bites from mosquitoes can be itchy and unsightly. If someone in the family notices more bites than usual, there may be an influx of mosquitoes. Pay special attention to bites during the day since pests generally bite more at night.
While mosquitoes are most active during the night, they can also be seen hovering during daylight hours, especially when there’s a severe infestation.
Mosquitos thrive in humid environments because their wings and bodies are more efficient in damp weather. Mosquitoes may lurk in a home with high humidity levels, especially during warm weather.

The Importance of Mosquito Control

Mosquito control is essential for two reasons. The first is nuisance biting, which hinders outdoor activity and a good night’s sleep. However, most people fail to recognize the magnitude of the second reason: the health threat mosquitoes present.
Mosquitoes carry and transmit some of the world’s deadliest diseases. In fact, up to a million people die yearly from mosquito-borne illnesses, such as dengue-hemorrhagic fever, yellow fever, and malaria.
In the U.S., West Nile virus, several types of encephalitis, and Zika virus represent some of the most severe threats to human health transmitted by mosquitoes. For these reasons, stopping mosquitoes from spreading is crucial for protecting public health.
